3 Techniques for Checking Proportions

These are the 3 techniques I use to check to see if my free hand-drawn drawings are as accurate as possible. I have to use these methods to check proportions throughout the drawing, because I don’t use calipers, the grid method or other non-hand-drawn methods to check the proportions. Instead, I challenge myself and my students to get our eyes and hands coordinating together using our brains! It’s harder, but so rewarding when things click. I prefer not to use the grid or other methods of copying or projecting outlines that are quick fixes or cheats that don’t really teach you to use techniques for checking proportion so that you can hand draw anything you might wish to draw.
