Speed Draw Stripes on a Baby’s Shirt by LZM Studio

This is a project I’ve been working on with an in person adult student who wanted to draw a friend’s grandbaby. This has taken her many hours to accomplish but the results are fantastic! This video shows my version that I draw alongside my students so they can see how I do each step and what order I build a drawing in. They can watch or draw during their lessons and most spend time doing both so they can learn new techniques. I lead by breaking down the process, they ask questions and try their hand at each skill set.

We also chat about life, dogs, family, what is on their minds and in their hearts. And sometimes there are dogs at the studio- either theirs come to their lessons or I have a foster or a friend’s dog I’m dog sitting. Drawing is so much more than just a talent. It’s a skill, a process, a way of seeing and experiencing your world! I hope this inspires you to draw a little this weekend.
